The deaths of 18-24 year olds in prison custody since 2000

Today, 1 July 2015, the Ministry of Justice has released a statistical notice on the self-inflicted deaths in prison custody in England and Wales.

INQUEST would like to draw attention to its separate findings on the number of young prisoners, aged 18-24, who have taken their lives between January 2000 and June 2015.

From January 2000 and June 2015, there has been a total of 250 deaths of prisoners aged 18-24 years. See a yearly breakdown below.
