A long-awaited report into deaths in police custody says families have been failed by the system.
Over the last 8+ years 4WardEverUK has compiled one of the largest single online listings of the annual United Families & Friends Campaign protests. UFFC is a coalition of families and friends of those that have died in custody.
In the financial year 2016/17 the IPCC recorded 14 deaths in or following police custody, 6 police shootings, an increase to 32 deaths relating to police pursuit in road traffic incidents, and 55 apparent suicides following custody.
Prime Minister Theresa May said she is “looking at” the treatment of black people by mental health services amid claims of “institutional racism”. Labour MP Steve Reed has called for an inquiry.
