Adapted Statement from the Foundation:

At long last The Cherry Groce Foundation has unveiled the Cherry Groce Memorial on Sunday, 25 April 2021. The structure was designed by world-renowned architect Sir David Adjaye OBE.

Cherry Groce was shot in 1985 and two years later there was a trial. The result of that trial was that the police were found not guilty. “There was no responsibility or accountability for what had happened… it was like my mum got shot in the line of duty,” her son Lee explained.

Due to the current Covid-19 restrictions the Foundation had only issued limited personal invites to the official guests, but the unveiling was streamed live so that any members of the public could take part in this historic moment.

4WardEverUK’s Tippa Naphtali, said;
“The National Mikey Powell Memorial Family Fund was very happy to make a recent donation towards the memorial appeal. This will be a fitting tribute to both Cherry Groce and the Foundation that was established in her name”
